Summer Walk Route - 5th June 2007
OK folks - it may look like these things are just thrown together, but actually they aren't.
On Sunday 3rd June, I endured moderate heat and glorious sunshine to have a little mooch around my proposed route. I travelled light, just a digital SLR and a bog standard 28-105mm. I did shoot in RAW but also recorded a small jpeg. I extracted these and batch processed them twice to get down to a reasonable size. However, I don't think the process shrank some of the images enough, apologies (I rushed), this page is only for broadband (something i have always encouraged us to avoid). There are no p/shop tweaks or crops.
I have subtly marked the start - Golden Ball Lane, near the post box but away from the houses to minimise disruption to resdients. Then just follow the numbers around the route. There is an optional bit at the end - fairly self explanatory I hope.
I suggest we all keep together until we reach point 3, it becomes fairly inttuitive after that. as you walk along the hedgerow, everything is blossoming. At point 4 you reach a marked left turn, proceed up the snicket (an unexciting picture appears at the top of this page, next to the white flower thumbnail.
After you emerge the other side of the snicket you will have a green agricultural crop field. Here is the crop in question!
Very close to the B of Beeching-Grove Wood there is a helpful waymark sign, provided by the EBRA, follow it and you can't go wrong. Again, see top.
As you walk through the field, daisies and poppies grow at the margins. It was quite breezy on Sunday but I got a few clear shots.
At the top of the field, marked 7, just hang a right and proceed down the slope. If she's still there, you need to follow that woman on the bicycle. It was very warm, not sure the red woolly hat was strictly necessary.
Just keep following the path. By the time Ed and Dave reach this point (point 8 on map) it will be near dark. Here's what this fence looks like in bright daylight, let's see what they come up with. The image that follows it was taken just to the left.
Looking back up the hill.
At the bottom of the path you turn right at a little roundabout, loads of these flowers are growing.
For those wishing to take the optional detour, its a very sharp left off the track you are on. Proceed through this gate, at the start of the detour. Otherwise, proceed directly on to point 13, and retrace your steps to Golden Ball Lane.
Thats all folks, a brief illustrated tour. We end at the Lemon Tree. Depending on their mood, there may or may not be food!!
