Slides from digital files
An easy way for digital workers to get more exposure for their images: have slides made.
It is cheap and easy, and the results are very good.
I have never used slide film, yet I have entered each slide competition this year and have been pleased with the results.
Some were manipulated images, but most were almost direct from my digital camera and it was not possible to tell which
slides were from digital originals when they were projected.
The slides were produced by Micro-Quiz:
http://www.micro-quiz.co.uk/
They charge £1.35 each for plastic-mounted slides with £1.50 P&P.
You just
upload the files to their server, fill in the form on the website, and
they mail the slides back within a day or two.
Alternatively, you can send them CDROM or other digital media.
I would suggest that 1024x768 is the absolute minimum resolution to use: people sitting at the front will notice a fuzziness to the image
at that level. Higher resolution is better: some of mine were 1500x2300 and some 2048x3072. Micro-Quiz can
accept a variety of file formats, though JPEG seems most sensible for uploading.
