Annual Visual Art Competition 2008-09
In the Season 2008-2009 there will be a Visual Art Competition as an on-line event. This will combine entries which would have been submitted in past seasons as part of ‘Creative’ or ‘Pictorial’ annual competitions
It will all work very much like last season’s Annual Creative Competition on-line, which was well supported and well received.
There can be
_up to three entries per photographer, not to have been entered in any previous Maidenhead Camera Club Annual Competition.
Non-e-linked members are included, but may need technical help from committee members and others to take part.
How to enter:
Images should conform to the standard Projected Images 1400 wide by 1050 by 100 ppi sRGB framework so we can show them on the XEED projector at the AGM or whenever; the format is just as for Annual Competition Projected Images name1 name2-Annual-Title title etc.
Send your entries by e-mail from
9th March to 8th April to the competition secretary (JA this time round at
jh.ashford@lenscap.zen.co.uk - !!please remove the lenscap before sending!!), or hand them over on a USB memory stick or CD;
For non-e members we can accept files on USB memory stick or CD;
The competition secretary will check formats and review any really wild or (on-line) embarrassing content; entries will be acknowledged by e-mail except for non-e-mail members.
Presentation:
There will be a page rather like Competition Images
in the Members’ Area where the entries will be presented for viewing and for judging;
[constructive] comments added by members
may be taken into account by the judges.
Images will be rescaled to a longest dimension of 600 px at jpg 40% just as in Competition Images; a thin black line and a mid-grey border will be added just like CI also; there is a sample as a header on the Creative Images page
The order of presentation will be random
Titles only will be shown until judging is complete
Judging:
The competition will be judged by a group of three mcc members believed to be competent, trusted and objective, and who have not submitted images to this competition this year. Two will score and the third will observe, combine the scores and adjudicate in the event of ties.
All being well, there will be first, second, third and then a few other deserving images 'commended'.
Results will be shown at AGM, and will also go to Competition Images / Annual Visual Art 2008-09.
Prize: One Annual Trophy or another . . .
